If someone calls in for a carpet cleaning after a lice outbreak and claims things have been disinfected, what is your response? Do you take the job, and do anything extra to protect yourself? Do you turn it down?

Disinfection should apply to microorganisms, not multicellular creatures such as lice. If an insecticide was applied, that's a different story.

Your guys are very unlikely to have the lice get onto their persons unless they sit and lean their heads onto the fabric of the furniture (where they are more likely to be than the carpet).

They are less likely to lay on the floor, I would hope at least.

For their peace of mind, you can have them wear shoe covers, but they probably do anyway. Lice don't jump like fleas, so again just request that they not lay on the furniture or carpet.

If they are still creeped out over it, have them wear disposable gloves.

Microban X590 has insecticide, but I'm not sure it can be used in the bastion of bliss we call California; one day Nebraska will be equally enlightened and you too will know acceptance and love, fraternity and peace.

But I digress....I'm also not certain that a carpet cleaner can act as an exterminator in California, so that should be done first, then cleaning.

Tell the guys not to worry Monique; at worst they'll just need their heads (and beards) shaved

Nope, we can't. Need a specific license. We also need a contractors license to do air duct cleaning or any restoration work. Even carpet cleaning jobs over $500 is questionable without a contractors license.

That is funny. The worst things to hear at my schools is mold, lice, tornadoes.
Not necessarily in that order. But 2 of the 3 can be very lucrative for me.
Lice can’t live off the body longer than 48 hrs. It’s an annual thing for me, and entails carpets and furniture cleaning, just to make them happy.
Boys, don’t turn lice jobs down, just sayin.

Depends on if it's true crabs like you catch in real skanky places or just lice from a public school. Went in a rest room at a local fishing pier and somebody had written on the wall "go ahead and sit on the seat cause a full grown crab can jump 3 feet."

It is no big deal, just clean it. I personally kick my prespray up and my price. 50% increase in price due to the extra time being careful not to touch anything. I get at least 5-10 calls a year. Think about the ones that lie to you about a party coming up.
