Both methods have plusses and minuses

HWE uses water pressure

VLM uses agitation

I tell my customers POWER WASHING carpets using water pressure to clean with and long dry times is how carpets were cleaned in the 1990's. It's 2025 now and VLM with 1-3 hour dry times is how carpets are cleaned today.

It's not the 1990's anymore

VLM WORKS !!!
I tell my customers that the nylon/ polyester they wear isn't much different than the nylon/ polyester they walk on. When they clean their machine uses saturation/ agitation to clean and centrifugal force to dry . The process repeats to rinse. I do the same. The only real difference is they put the fabric in the machine, i put the machine on the fabric. Any other way of carpet cleaning is not cleaning, it's cleaning AT at best. If you spill something on a blouse you might take a towel and a solution to temporarily fix the problem but you certainly wouldn't clean the entire garment that way.

POWER WASHING carpet using water pressure to clean with just pushes dirt and contaminants down deeper into the carpet making them impossible to remove

HWE leaves behind a lot of dirty water. The longer it takes to dry the more dirty water left behind. 4-6-8-12 hours to dry that's a lot of dirty water

We have all heard the stories about carpets taking 1-2 days to dry

VLM uses 60-70% less water than HWE

If done correctly VLM dry times are 1-2 hours in most cases

It's not the 1990's anymore !!!

It's 2025 and VLM with 1-3 hour dry times is how carpets are cleaned today

Hope everybody has a wonderful Memorial Day !!!

you must've had a terrible truckmount. I'm sorry you were sold that machine. I had one of those back in my early days. I never understood why these manufacturers sell underpowered machines, because once you use an everest size machine or even a Kubota 3cyl size machine, you won't want anything smaller, because it might cause a mindset to think like this

Really man, something went wrong in your setup to actually think that flushing out the carpet is a bad process.

I'd like to show you my setups one day and when the machine is set up properly, there is no "power washing" or "leaving more dirty water behind"

No use in talking to this dude Matt. He’s probably over on YouTube arguing that Trump is ignoring the constitution or Elon Musk is getting rich off the DOGE cuts.

I don’t know; but, usually when I’m finishing up a 2-3 room job the first areas I’ve cleaned are near dry/damp before I’m out the door. If I use fans probably closer to dry… you’re right it’s not the 90’s anymore!!

Wanta put your money where your mouth is??? I gots a dirty carpet. We can put a tape line down the middle and you can choose whichever side you want to play around with and ill clean the other. But we'll post the results and make it public. What do ya saylets put that little brush toy of yours up against my truck mount. The last couple of pictures are of the last time i "pressure washed it and pushed the dirt deeper "(lol) anybody can clean a clean carpet with just about anything hell, you can clean a clean carpet with a spray bottle of club soda and a washcloth, but a dirty carpet needs a professional with professional equipment. Im not apposed to even puttin some serious money on the outcome but like i said the outcome is made public, all platforms

I knew my OPINIONS would cause an uproar

And I knew I wasn't going to change anybody's mind and nobody is going to change mine

Both methods have plusses and minuses

But for me all the minuses and headaches that come with a TM and HWE far out weigh the plusses

After 25 years of HWE and 6 years of VLM I prefer VLM

I love VLM !!!

Well unlike most, im willing to put my money where my mouth is. I got 100oz of silver that says my machine Frankenstein can do a better job of cleaning this carpet than your little carpet sweeper can. At this moment thats $3,361.00 , you can buy a fleet of them little sweepers with that,But if you take the challenge win lose or draw the results will be posted on all platforms. That's how much i belive in my process

For all the guys getting 2-3 hour dry times my comments don't apply to you

But for all the SOAKERS like Stanley Steemer and many others that come in and SOAK the carpets and leave they do

They give everybody in the carpet cleaning business a bad name and yes there are a lot of SOAKERS out there

I found that I had to do 90% of all the work on my machines, and the only time I need to hire it out, I now have a local auto mechanic who is familiar with the technology of these machines, and I have a machinest/tractor mechanic who does everything else my main mechanic can't do.

And this circles right back to the reason Jondon has reaped what it sowed. Bitter customers who have been $Burned$ from being sold faulty machines and doing more damage in the service industry

There are just as many padders doing sub par work.

Where does the dirt go? If it vacuums up why do they need you?

Magic crystals just isn't a good explanation.

I wouldn't just OP a residential carpet either. It takes more than just a OP and bonnet

It takes a thorough scrubbing with a CRB first and a good crystallizing Encap

Excellent Supply sells the best CRB for Residential. 14'' Brush Master Pro 35. It has more weight and a higher brush rotation with the correct brushes you can get anything clean. 10'' CRB's are too light and too slow. I only use a 10'' CRB with soft brushes to groom carpet after cleaning

The key to cleaning Residential or Commercial carpet today is NOT more water. It's MORE agitation

LESS water MORE agitation !!!

1 - Vacuum
2 - Prespray Using Worx Sprayer and crystallizing Encap
3 - Thoroughly scrub with CRB
4 - Thoroughly scrub and Extract with OP and Cotton Bonnets
5 - Groom with 10'' CRB

It's not the 1990's anymore

It's 2025 and VLM with 1-3 hour dry times is how carpets are cleaned today

How much time are you spending on your days off washing hundreds of bonnet pads?

Go back and look. I have three pictures on this page and one pic on page 3. Do you see any corn rows ???

If you use stiff brushes to groom with on some carpets you could leave corn rows. I use soft wool brushes for grooming plus a 10'' CRB is very light

Sorry no corn rows when job is finished

After I use the 14'' CRB to scrub it does leave some corn rows on some carpets but my OP takes those lines out and leaves light swirl marks on some carpets. The 10'' CRB takes the swirl marks out

10'' CRB grooms the carpet better than a brush. It would be faster to groom with a brush but I like the way a 10'' CRB grooms carpet

NO CORN ROWS !!!

Anymore questions ???

I love VLM !!!

As soon as I get home I clean bonnets. I don't let them back up plus they clean up better if you clean them the same day. No dryer. I hang them to dry

HWE has gallons and gallons of dirty water to worry about dumping. I would rather wash bonnets

There is my dirty water tank

Everybody else here knows me, my equipment and many have seen my work. You’re the new guy here. Most here have seen you vlm guys come and go. The ones who stay, know and admit to it’s limitations and are comfortable with them.
