It frayed on me, so after I repaired it I taped it up so it wouldn't flop around and catch on things.

There are companies that sell large soldering irons with custom-made branding plates. We had ours made with a gap, and we heat melt the truck numbers into the gap. You can tell ours has had some use.

Search for plastic branding irons, and individual letter and number sets are available at any hardware store.
