Hey Ya’ll-

Hoping for a little help from you vets. I been using a portable for a while now. I have a great crb (brush pro 45) and get great results with my system. Even on tile. However, since I started, I’ve had carpel surgery on both wrists, now need trigger finger release surgery on fingers in both hands. I’m not getting any younger and magnesium baths don’t do it. My business is doing well and I love it, So I pulled the trigger and bought a brand new TCS Chief truckmount package with an upgraded 100 gallon fresh water tank. Gets installed in 2-3 weeks. My questions:

1. I have the chosen wand currently with the green glide. Love the wand, but do I need to upgrade it to a 4 jet wand with 2” tube or is running the 2” hose connected to the 1.5” for the last 25 feet how most do it? Is there a difference going 2” all the way thru?

2. Do I need to buy an inline filter?

3. I use the 2 jet hard surface wand currently for tile with my portable. Is getting a spinner that much better or can I stick with the hard surface wand?

4. I assume an inline sprayer for pre spray is well worth it so I plan I buying one during install. Is this a safe assumption? I use an electric sprayer now but going through 4-5 2.5 gallon jugs a job gets old.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Congratulations on your purchase. The TCS machines are work horses. If you’re having carpal tunnel and trigger finger problems, even if your surgeries are successful, I’d recommend sticking to a 1.5 inch wand. I’ve had both surgeries and I’m 67 years old. I don’t need the stress on my body that a 2 inch wand causes. The drying time difference between the two just isn’t great enough to warrant any concern over using the smaller wand.
Yes, buy an inline filter. The waste tank on the TCS machines aren’t the greatest at draining. If you strain your water, the waste tank is less likely to stink and you won’t have to climb over your engine as often to clean your blower filters.
Everybody needs a spinner but it’s not absolutely essential. With a crb and a proper tile wand you can clean most tile floors but you’re going to eventually want to buy a spinner.
You’ve already talked yourself into an inline sprayer. Don’t let anybody talk you out of it.

I remember the old days when I used a pump up sprayer, and doing all that made me dislike my job

You need an inline sprayer
I use a battery powered sprayer from vantools. It works great but the constant mixing of 2.5 gallon jugs and swapping them so much is time consuming and a PIA. I also think I using too much chemical with this process. I can’t wait to run a job with an in-line and experience that difference in prep time

Is there a big difference between a 2 and 4 jet wand?

Your current equipment is more than fine and I have countless 30 yr plus veterans thrilled with your collection.

Every floor is different and needs to be cleaned differently by adjusting your chemistry, dwell time, agitation and wand strokes/ rinse technique

Far too many cleaners take the one size fits all approach and when the cleaning goes wrong, blame the tools rather than the mechanics of it all.

Less than 5% of us have it in our personality to use God's gift of curiosity to think things through and be constantly analyzing and adjusting, hopefully you're one of them.

I have several 4 jet wands as well as 2 jet wands. Unless you really know what you're doing, there is more chance of jet clogging and streaking with multiple jets. Most often, I use 1.5 inch 2 jet wands. My 4 jet wands are all 2 inch and I use them only when I am more concerned about drying times. Doesn't make that much of a difference but sometimes every bit helps. Mikey's "chosen" has become one of my favorites because of the 45 degree jet angle. As it comes with the 4 flow, it works great on both the truck mount and portable. The sheer angle gives great results using less cleaning solution. My inline sprayers are at a 4-1 ratio and depending on the soil load I will go through a gallon for 600-1000 sqft. That's equal to 4 gallons in a pump up or electric sprayer.

Got it and thank you. I would definitely like to believe I’m one of 5%. I take great pride in what I do and many times my own expectations are higher than the customers. Always tinkering with things to stand out amongst the crowd, I love when I get the call after steemer or someone else failed and leave the customer very happy. Appreciate the input and advice!

Awesome, thank you! I’d much rather out the 4 jet wand money towards an inline filter or something else

I’m using a hole glide, would I need a slot glide using the wand with the truckmount or does it not really matter that much?
Think of it this way, a Hole Glide is for the customers you want to keep and a slot is for the ones you hope never call you back..

The nice thing about the Chosen wand is it so easy to swap them out and if you do things right you'll be using the hole 90% of the time, let's keep a slot around for those projects that are ultimately learning lessons only...
