How do you know when to replace it?

Use teflon or silicone spray and douche the new ones down. Sturate, then let them dry.
It seems to wear like iron.

They wear after a few cleanings. Trying to make them last longer or replicate. Teflon really holds them well for long?

Well, it stands to reason that the friction is reduced. I have at least 200 hours on the first felt ring.

I just install mine. No lube no silicone. It’s felt so water seems to lubricate it fine..

They are cheap as chips. @Rotovac sell them through distributors and direct.
